aperture
Aperture is how much light your camera lens lets in. Wide aperture is a lower number like 2.8, and sharp aperture is a higher number like 22 and lets in the least amount of light.
Shutter speed
Shutter speed is how long you camera lense will let in light. 1" means it will take the picture for 1 second, and fractions like 1/80" means 1/80 of a second. Fast shutter speed will take pictures of moving things without being blurry. Slow shutter speed will take a while to take a picture, but will capture light movement in photos.
white balance
White balance is the color balance on a camera. It changes the light and you can get your true whites in photos. If you choose the wrong white balance pictures can turn out blue or orange tinted.
ISo
ISO is how sensitive the camera is to light. Too high of an ISO setting can make photos have too much noise or grain, but a high ISO setting is good for photos with dim lighting. Not all noise is bad but too much will make photos look low quality.
sally mann
Sally Mann was an American photographer with some of the most controversial work in history. She was best known for her black and white photos of her children, then later of landscapes. She started photography as a 16 year old with her dad's film camera and took up photography to spend time with her boyfriend in the darkroom, but this later grew into a lifelong passion. Her controversial photos were shocking to the public because they showed children posing nude and smoking. She posed her children for hours with no breaks and they too felt neglected by their own mother. Most of her photos where taken from 1984 to the early 2000's, when she started writing poetry. Sally Mann is still alive today and is 66.
